यो श्री कृष्ण आधारभूत विद्यालय जिल्लाको दक्षिणी भेगमा पर्ने पुनर्वास न.पा.–८, कंकडमा अवस्थित छ । विद्यालयको अवस्थित भएको गाउँमा सतप्रतिसत यहाँका आदिवासी रानाथारुको बसोबास छ । उनीहरुले बोल्ने भाषा नै रानाथारु हो । यो गाउँ लोल्यान्डमा पर्ने भएकोले वर्षभरीमा बालीहरु धान, गँहु र उखुबालीहरु उत्पादन हुने गर्दछ । र हिउँदमा यो बस्ती अधिकांश खेतबारीहरुमा चाहेजतीको बालीहरु उत्पादन कमै हुने गर्दछ । तसर्थ यस गाउँका बासिन्दाहरु कृषि उपजमा बालीमात्रै हुने भएकोले आर्थिक अवस्था दयनिए नै छ । योे विद्यालयबाट सबैभन्दा नजिकको विद्यालय २ कि.मी. टाढा श्री बागिश्वरी मा.वि. विद्यालय छ । र विद्यालय रहेको गाउँ अर्थात कंकड बाट पाँच सात वर्ष उमेर भएका बालबालिकाहरु उक्त विद्यालयमा प्राथमिक तहको शिक्षा हासिल गर्न जान सक्ने अवस्था नरहेकोले वि.सं.२०६२ सालमा यस कंकड गाउँका स्थानीय समाजसेवीहरु श्री रघुनन्दन राना, श्री माघेराम राना, श्री प्रेम सिंह राना, साविक त्रिभुवनबस्ती वडा नं.–१ निवासी श्री महेश कुमार बुढा, श्री मिन बहादुर गुरुङ्ग लगायतका बुद्धिजिवीहरुको विषेश पहलमा प्राथमिक तहको विद्यालय स्थापना गर्ने् निर्णय गरेका थिए । र उहाँहरुको निर्णय अनुसार २०६२ सालभन्दा पूर्व पनि यस ठाउमा प्राथमिक विद्यालय खोल्न प्रयास स्वरुप केही बालबालिकाहरुलाई श्री बागिश्वरी मा.वि को सम्बन्ध नलिएर पठनपाठन गराएको पाइन्छ । तत्कालिन समयमा प्रा.वि. तहको विद्यालय खोल्न चाहिने रु.५०,०००।– स्थानिय गाउँबासीहरुले आर्थिक संकलन गर्न नसक्दा संचालन गरिएको कक्षा बन्द गरिएको अवस्था थियो । वि.सं.२०६२ पुस १३ गते देखि श्री पुनर्वास ज.उ.मा.वि बाट परीक्षा दिलाउने गरी कक्षा १ सञ्चालन गरियो । वि.सं.२०६३ साल साउन ३१ गते श्री जिल्ला शिक्षा कार्यालय, कञ्चनपुरबाट प्रा.वि. तहको कक्षा १ सञ्चालन गनर््े अनुमति प्राप्त भयो । त्यसपछि वि.सं.२०६४ मा कक्षा २, २०६५ मा कक्षा ३, २०६६ मा कक्षा ४ र २०६७ मा कक्षा ५ सञ्चालन गर्ने अनुमति प्राप्त गरी हाल कक्षा एक देखि कक्षा पाँच सम्म सञ्चालित छन् । जिल्ला शिक्षा कार्यालय कञ्चनपुरबाट विद्यालय स्वीकृत हुनुपूर्व परासन गा.वि.स को कार्यालय बाट २०६२ सालमा पुर्वप्राथमिक विद्यालय खोल्न अनुमति लिएको थियो । अहिले यस विद्यालयको सेवाक्षेत्रमा पर्ने पुनर्वास न.पा. वडा नं.–८, कंकड, का ५ वर्ष उमेर भएका प्रायः सबै बालबालिकाहरु विद्यालयमा पढ्न आउने गर्दछन् । यस प्रकारका विद्यालयले शिक्षा जस्तो नैसर्गिक आधारबाट बञ्चित बालबालिकाहरुलाई आफ्नै गाउँमा पढ्ने अवसर प्रदान गरेको मा यहाँका बासिन्दाहरुमा शिक्षा प्रति सकारात्मक दृष्टिकोण बनेको छ ।
Sri Krishna Basic School is located in Kankad, Ward No. 8 of Punarwas Municipality, situated in the southern region of the district. The village where the school is located is exclusively inhabited by the indigenous Rana Tharu community, and their native language is Rana Tharu. Since the village lies in a lowland area, crops such as paddy, wheat, and sugarcane are produced throughout the year. However, during the winter season, agricultural production in most of the fields is quite low. Therefore, due to heavy reliance solely on basic crop production, the economic condition of the residents in this village is rather weak. The nearest school to this institution is Sri Baleshwari Secondary School, which is 2 kilometers away. Since children aged five to seven from Kankad village were unable to travel that far to pursue primary education, local social workers of Kankad village—namely Mr. Raghunandan Rana, Mr. Magheram Rana, Mr. Prem Singh Rana, along with intellectuals from the former Tribhuwanbasti Ward No. 1 including Mr. Mahesh Kumar Budha and Mr. Min Bahadur Gurung—made a special initiative to establish a primary school in 2062 BS.
According to their decision, even prior to 2062 BS, some efforts had been made to run classes for children in this area without formal affiliation with Sri Baleshwari Secondary School. At that time, when the local villagers could not raise the required sum of NPR 50,000 to open a primary-level school, the operated classes had to be suspended. From Poush 13, 2062 BS, Class 1 was resumed with arrangements for students to take examinations through Sri Punarwas J.U.Ma.Vi. On Shrawan 31, 2063 BS, formal permission to operate Class 1 at the primary level was obtained from the District Education Office, Kanchanpur. Subsequently, permission was acquired to run Class 2 in 2064 BS, Class 3 in 2065 BS, Class 4 in 2066 BS, and Class 5 in 2067 BS. As a result, classes from one to five are currently in operation. Prior to the school's official approval by the District Education Office, Kanchanpur, permission to open a pre-primary school was obtained from the Parasan Village Development Committee (VDC) office in 2062 BS. Today, almost all children aged five within the service area of this school—Kankad, Punarwas Municipality Ward No. 8—attend school. By providing children—who would otherwise be deprived of their fundamental right to education—the opportunity to study right in their own village, schools of this nature have fostered a positive attitude toward education among the local residents.
